Module Intention
To develop practical awareness of how past experiences may influence a client’s behaviour during a session, and to recognise real-world signs that indicate changes in comfort, safety or boundaries.

Module Overview
This module provides a practical overview of trauma awareness within sensual massage. It is not intended to replace deeper training, and further study is strongly recommended for any practitioner working closely with clients in this way.
Sensual massage can involve relaxation, vulnerability and heightened awareness of the body. For some clients, this may connect with past experiences or sensitivities.
These responses are not always obvious. They do not always present as discomfort, and may sometimes appear as increased engagement or openness.
This module focuses on what to notice during a session, and how to respond in a way that maintains safety, structure and professionalism.
This guide forms part of the Sensual Bodyworks practitioner training series, exploring the techniques, structure and environment behind the Adventure Massage method.

Understanding Trauma in Practice
Trauma does not need to be defined in clinical terms to be relevant.
In practice, it simply means that a client’s response to touch, closeness or vulnerability may be influenced by past experiences.
